Troubleshooting Search Issues in Drag

If search results aren’t matching what you see on your boards, don’t worry. In most cases, there’s a simple explanation.

This guide walks you through the most common scenarios and how to resolve them.

Scenario 1: “I can find a card using search, but it’s not on the board”

If a card appears in search results but you can’t see it on the board you’re looking at, check the following:

1. The card may be part of a merged card

If cards were merged, search may surface the email, but it will live inside the parent card.

What to do:

  • Open the card shown in search
  • Check the Related or merged cards section
  • Look for the parent card that contains it

2. You may be looking at the wrong board

Search works across boards you have access to, not just the one you’re currently viewing.

What to do:

  • Check the board name shown in the search result
  • Switch to that board and look for the card there

3. The card might be closed (not in a column)

Closed cards don’t appear inside columns on the board because they're archived.

What to do:

  • Check the Closed board view by using the dropdown option next to the board name
  • Mark the card as open to place it back into a column

Scenario 2: “The card is on the board, but I can’t find it using search”

If you can see a card on a board but search doesn’t return it, the most common cause is permissions.

1. You may not be invited to the board

Search only returns cards from boards you have access to.

What to do:

  • Confirm you are invited to that board
  • Ask a board member or admin to add you
  • Refresh Drag after access is granted
