How can I forward a shared email privately?

By default, when an email is shared on a Drag board, it will remain shared with all board members for as long as it is on that board.

This means that all emails exchanged on that thread, including replies or forwarded messages, will be available on the same card to all board members, regardless of whether those messages were sent to board members or not.

However, if for some reason, a user needs to continue in private a conversation that started shared, they can make use of our forward privately feature.

Difference between forward and forward privately

The key differences between forward and forward privately options are:

Forward:

The latest message wrote by the sender is added to the original email card on the shared board.
Only the original email card remains on the board, no new email threads are created.
Replies to the forwarded email load on the same existing email card on the shared board.

Forward privately:

The latest message wrote by the sender is not added to the original email card on the shared board.
A new, private email thread is created with the forwarded message. It will be found in the Sent folder of the sender's Gmail account.
Replies to the forwarded email load in the sender's personal Gmail inbox and is not visible to the original shared board members.

Note all messages forwarded privately are sent from the sender's private email address, even if that is not the email address set up as "default sender" on that board. This makes sure that any replies to forwarded messages stay private and do not automatically return to the shared board.

How to forward an email privately

To continue in private a conversation that started shared:

Go to the shared board and open the conversation to be forwarded.
On the top right menu, click on the 3-dot button.
Select the option "forward privately".

Fill up the recipient(s) email address(es), type the message and click on Send.
A flash message will appear on the bottom left confirming that a new conversation was created with the conversation forwarded privately.
