How to use WhatsApp pre-approved templates
Facebook Business account admins can set up and manage WhatsApp message templates in your WhatsApp Business settings. These templates must be approved by the Facebook team and will automatically sync over to Drag.
You can view all your pre-approved templates in Drag and send messages to your customers whenever you need.
Note WhatsApp has a regulation to message customers only via pre-approved templates if it’s been more than 24 hours since the last customer message. Read this Meta’s article to learn more about this time limit.
You need to be a Facebook Business account admin to be able to create and submit WhatsApp templates for approval. Follow these steps:
Open to your Facebook Business account.
Select the WhatsApp account where you want to create the templates, scroll down and click on WhatsApp Manager.
Open WhatsApp accounts dashboard then click on Manage templates.
You will see the list of your existing templates, if any. Click on Create template to create a new one.
Choose a category and define if you want to create a custom template or use Meta's template library. Note currently we do not support Catalogs. Read this Meta's article to learn more about templates categories. Then click on Next.
On the following page, define all parameters for your template and, when finished, click on Submit for review on the bottom of the page.
Once you submit the template, WhatsApp will take up to 24 hours to approve or reject it. You will be notified by email when a decision has been made.
Once the template is approved, it will be visible in your Drag WhatsApp board and you will be able to send it out using Drag.
Once your WhatsApp templates have been set up and approved, they will be available to be used within Drag. Here's how:
Open the detail view of a WhatsApp conversation.
Click the WhatsApp icon in the composer toolbar, then select a WhatsApp template.
A preview popup will appear. If applicable, manually define the variables in the template (eg. text, links, files, etc). The template preview will dynamically update with your changes. When you finish defining the required variables, click on Send template.
If it's been more than 24 hours since the last customer message, the input field will be disabled and you will only be able to send pre-approved templates.
